By Staff | Jan 15, 2008

Emmetsburg’s “Citizen of the Year” will be honored at the Chamber of Commerce Annual Banquet and Awards Ceremony. The event is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 1.

“We have extended the deadline for reservations to Monday, Jan. 28,” said Cecilia Miller, Chamber Executive Director. “The banquet is not just for Chamber members, it’s for the entire community. It’s your Citizen of the Year.”

To make reservations for the Annual Celebration Banquet, contact Cecilia at Emmetsburg Chamber of Commerce, 712-852-2283. The event will be held at the Iowa Lakes Community College cafeteria.

The evening will begin with entertainment by Billie James, the “Awesome Aussie,” at 6 p.m. She has performed at the Wild Rose, Little Swan Lake Winery and in the Iowa Great Lakes area. The meal will be served at 6:30 p.m. Following the meal is the awards ceremony.

Emmetsburg’s Citizen of the Year will be introduced to the banquet attendees. In addition, businesses that have achieved milestones in their businesses during the year will be recognized.

Reports of the year will be presented by the Emmetsburg Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Emmetsburg Retail Association, and KEMB-LP Radio Board.

A new feature has been added to the Annual Celebration Banquet. Chamber members will provide items for a silent auction. All funds raised will assist in promoting the Emmetsburg community, attractions and events.

“Good food, good entertainment and good information. What more could you ask for?” says Cecilia Miller. “We encourage everyone to join us for the Chamber’s event of the year. We will be honoring our members and want you to be a part of it all.”
