Auditions For Play “Of Mice And Men”

The play “Of Mice and Men,” written by John Steinbeck, follows the lives of Lennie, a big strong man with the mind of a child, and George, Lennie’s friend and protector. They struggle to find work and make a life for themselves at the height of the depression.

Emmetsburg Main Street Community Theatre will hold auditions for the play, “Of Mice and Men,” on Monday, Jan. 14. Auditions are from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Performance Center, located at 19th and Lake Streets in Emmetsburg.

There are acting roles for nine adult men and one adult woman. The leading roles are Lennie and George; with Ranch Hands, Slim, Carlson and Whit; the old man, Candy; the boss and the boss’s son, Curly; Crooks, the black stable hand. The role of Crooks could be played by an adult male of ethnicity. The one adult female role is Curly’s wife.

“Of Mice and Men” will be directed by Jackie VanOosbree. It is scheduled to be shown the last weekend in March and the first weekend in April.
