STORM LAKE BOUND - On Monday, Nov. 25, Annie Brennan, a senior at Emmetsburg High School, officially signed her commitment letter to attend Buena Vista University (BVU) in the fall of 2020. Brennan will participate in the Track & Field program for the Beavers. On Sept. 19, BVU President Dr. Joshua Merchant came to EHS to announce that Brennan would be the first accepted student from the Class of 2020 to attend the university, personally offering his congratulations. Brennan competes in E-Hawk girl's track and is a two-time state qualifier in shot put and a one-time qualifier in discus, currently holding the school record in shot put. Brennan is also a three-year letter winner, a two-time Twin Lakes Conference Champion, and Academic All-Conference. Brennan is the 2019-2020 Senior Class President and was crowned 2019 Homecoming Queen in October. She was also crowned 2019 Miss Shamrock during last year's St. Patrick's Day festivities. A member of the National Honor Society, Brennan is active in music, participating in Choir, Show Choir, Jazz Choir, and musicals. She is an active cheerleader and is involved in speech at EHS. Brennan is also an All-Conference catcher for the Lady E-Hawk softball team. Brennan is the daughter of Rick and Diane Brennan of Emmetsburg.
