Kindergarten Gardeners Host Chamber Coffee

By Staff | Dec 2, 2019
KINDERGARTEN GARDENERS hosted the Emmetsburg Chamber Coffee on Friday, Nov. 22. Students explained their Garden Project and told how they decided to sell their produce at the Farmers Market. To prepare for their day at the Farmers Market, students created advertising for the newspaper. On the September sale date, when some students were selling at the Farmers Market, others were at The Reporter & The Democrat office to learn how their ad was printed in the newspaper. Students are pictured above in the foreground enjoying muffins and juice and their Chamber Coffee guests are pictured in the background looking at posters the students created about their garden project. --Jane Whitmore photos
FARMERS MARKET -- Caitlin was one of several Kindergarten presenters who told the Chamber Coffee crowd about their garden project.
GARDEN PROJECT -- Kindergarten students planted raspberries, peppers, pumpkins, watermelon, squash and tomatos in their garden. By selling produce at the Farmers Market, they earned enough money to purchase garden gloves (because raspberries are really prickly) and they will purchase seeds and plants for next year’s garden. Emmetsburg West Elementary School Kindergarten teachers are Amy Thompson, Ashley Stein and Tami Jensen.
TOMATO POSTER -- Kindergarten students Paige, London and Riley (from the left) created a poster about tomatos. They are red, juicy, and they have seeds.
