EHS Muscians Fare Well At Contests

Several members of the Emmetsburg High School Instrumental and Vocal Music Departments competed in the Iowa High School Music Association’s State Solo and Ensemble Festival on Saturday, April 7. Emmetsburg’s musicians traveled to Manson Northwest Webster High School for the contest and came home with severl solid performance ratings.

Instrumentalist earning a Division I, or Superior rating included Thatcher Whitney for a trumpet solo. Whitney was one point away from a perfect score for his solo. Also receiving Division I ratings were Colton Johnson for a trombone solo, Jacklyn Radvansky for a flute solo and Jonah Hackbart-Morlock.

Ensemble performances earning a Division I rating included a Brass Choir and Percussion Ensemble, as well as a Trumpet Trio, comprised of Thatcher Whitney, Zach Yates and Shane Moffitt and a Trumpet Duet of Thatcher Whitney and Tatum Iverrson.

Vocalists receiving Division I?ratings for their solo performances were Hannah Joyce and Evan Brennan.

Vocal Ensembles earning Division i ratings included the Chamber Choir, Mixed Ensemble Two, the Girls’ Ensemble and the Boys’ Ensemble.

The Mixed Ensemble received a Division II (Excellent) rating for their performance.
