Apply Now! 2018 Palo Alto Soil and Water Conservation District Memorial Scholarship

The Palo Alto County Soil & Water Conservation District has established an annual scholarship for an entering college freshman, to be used for educational costs during the freshman year of study. This scholarship will be known as the Soil and Water Conservation Memorial Scholarship in memory of past Commissioners who were dedicated conservationists. This scholarship is to be awarded to a student who is majoring in conservation, forestry, fish and wildlife management, or an area of agriculture, or science related to one of these fields.

This scholarship shall be in the amount of $500.00 and shall be paid to the recipient in the spring quarter of the freshman year, after they submit to the Palo Alto SWCD Chairman, their fall quarter grades.


The recipient shall be a citizen of Palo Alto County.

The recipient shall have maintained a grade point average of 2.50 on a 4.0 scale or a C+ on an A B C D F scale during the senior year in high school. Please have a school official attach your official Transcript that includes your school attendance record, GPA and current class ranking.

Attach a copy of your ACT or SAT scores.

Attach one letter of recommendation, either from your school, group (such as FFA), or an employer. Please do not submit any more than 2 letters of recommendation.

The recipient must be an announced major in one of the areas of study listed above and have a course of study which will transfer as the first two years of a baccalaureate program at a recognized college or university.

The recipient must furnish the Chairman of the Palo Alto Soil & Water Conservation District an official report of his/her Fall quarter grades at his College or University.

The recipient must be of good character and an acceptable citizen.

The Palo Alto Soil & Water Conservation District will choose a recipient at the March District Meeting.

Applications are due back to the Palo Alto SWCD office before 4:30 p.m., Friday, February 16, 2018. This is the same as the CDI deadline so to prevent any confusion.
