Annie’s Project, an education Program for Farm Women offered by ISU Extension program starts on February 13, 2018 and ends on March 20, 2018. Registration deadline is February 6, 2018.

Becoming an effective farm business partner is the focus of Annie’s Project. The course, offered by Iowa State University (ISU) Extension, takes the real life experiences of an Illinois farm wife and shares them with other farm women who want to learn more about a crucial and complex business environment, their own farm.

Annie’s Project will be offered in six sessions, beginning on February 13 through March 20, and the program will be held from 11am to 2pm with a light working lunch. This program will be held at the Farm Credit Services of America in Emmetsburg. Topics will include human resources and time management, business and marketing plans, risk management, financial records, legal issues, farm taxes and resources. Learning sessions will have short presentations from local professionals, extended discussions, and hands-on activities, such as trying financial analysis software.

According to past participants, “I have completely enjoyed Annie’s Project. It made me realize that I am on task with some aspects of my record keeping and that I need to improve in others.” “This project has opened up communication and information shared between my husband and myself. I work full time in town, and I have learned so much from this project that will help me help my husband with our farm business.”

Annie’s Project costs $75 per person, and class size is limited to 25 participants. Annie’s Project is funded in part by a grant from the USDA/FCIC Risk Management Agency and is also supported by Farm Credit Services of America. For more information about the program, contact the Emmet County Extension office at (712) 362-3434 or email Britney Rosburg at britneyr@iastate.edu or Palo Alto County Extension Office at (712)852-2865 or email Angie Strohman at angies@iastate.edu .
