Emmetsburg Community Theatre To Hold Auditions For Spring Production of “Young Frankenstein”
Emmetsburg Mainstreet Community Theatre will be holding auditions for the musical, “Young Frankenstein,” Sun. Jan. 14 at 4 p.m. and Mon. Jan. 15 at 7 p.m. at the theatre located at 19th and Lake in Emmetsburg.
The musical requires singing and speaking roles for 8 people including the roles of Dr. Frederick Frankenstein, the Monster, Igor(Frederick’s eager sidekick), Inga (a young Transylvania miss who has been hired to be Frederick’s lab assistant), Elizabeth (Frederick’s betrothed), Frau Blucher (the stern housekeeper of the Frankenstein estate), Inspector Hans Kemp, the Hermit, and Dr. Victor VonFrankenstein. There is also a required ensemble of singers and dancers.
Grandson of the infamous Victor Frankenstein, Frederick Frankenstein inherits his family estate in Transylvania. With the help of his sidekick, Igor, and young Inga, Frederick finds himself in the mad scientist shoes of this ancestors.
“Young Frankenstein, the Musical” adds a little theatrical flair to the movie “Young Frankenstein” also written by Mel Brooks. It is the perfect opportunity to showcase an array of talents. It is monstrously entertaining. All the characters from the movie and most of the punch lines are included in the musical adaptation.
Directors Jackie VanOosbree and Peggy Stolley suggest that everyone should check out youtube scenes from the show so they can get an idea of the musical.
Rehearsals will begin the first of February with productions scheduled for the first part of April. People who are interested in being part of the show should come to auditions ready to sing the national anthem without accompaniment and read a scene from the show.
