Northwest Iowa RSVP Coordinator Returns to Palo Alto County

By Staff | Nov 30, 2017

Northwest Iowa RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program) is pleased to welcome Casee Ross as the Palo Alto Coordinator on the Emmetsburg campus of Iowa Lakes Community College. As an RSVP coordinator, Ross will work directly to engage volunteers who are 55+ with area non-profit and public service agencies as well as schools to meet a broad range of community needs. RSVP is a national, Senior Corps program which recruits and places volunteers, age 55 and above, in various non-profit, public service, and proprietary health organizations as well as elementary schools.

“Given my past experiences within Palo Alto and surrounding areas, I have seen firsthand how small communities’ residents will come together helping one another, our extraordinary volunteers are the backbone to RSVP! I always try to remind people, the more we give, the happier we feel,” remarks Ross.

Northwest Iowa RSVP has been placing volunteers in Palo Alto county since 1974. After a few years without an on-site coordinator, RSVP is happy to bring Ross on board to revitalize the program.

“Casee is eager to promote the mission of RSVP to make our communities a better place by matching the interests and skills of volunteers with a life-time of experience to a wide variety of opportunities which make a positive impact. Casee will combine her energetic, positive attitude with her attention to detail and familiarity with Palo Alto County to be a reliable, comfortable contact for volunteers and volunteer sites in the area” remarks Dawn Bernhard, Northwest Iowa RSVP Director.

Iowa Lakes Community College, which has sponsored Northwest Iowa RSVP since 1977, will host Ross’ office on the Emmetsburg campus. Ross will work part-time with RSVP. In addition to scheduled office hours of 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, she will be available in her office by phone or email appointment and is willing to provide programs on RSVP for any group or organization by scheduled appointment. Anyone interested in learning more about RSVP, either as a volunteer or as a volunteer host site, is encouraged to contact Ross at 712-852-5351 or cross@iowalakes.edu

Ross will host current and potential volunteers on Dec. 20, from 9 a.m. 10:30 a.m. for coffee and rolls. Please plan to attend this RSVP Meet and Greet in the Community Room on the Iowa Lakes Community College Emmetsburg campus.
