AAUW?LOBBY?DAY -- Three local members of Palo Alto County's AAUW Branch participated in the annual AAUW Lobby Day at the State Capitol on February 22 in Des Moines. Jane Hoyman, Anne Stansbury Johnson, and Roberta Hersom spent nearly an hour visiting with Senator David Johnson after morning sessions with various elected officials from across the state. The local delegation addressed concerns related to education and equity for women and girls. Anne Stansbury Johnson commented, "Senator Johnson updated us on his concerns related to education funding, and was also willing to listen to our concerns on public policy issues related to women and girls in Iowa. Unfortunately, we also had hoped to connect with Representative Megan Jones, but she was not available. Overall, it was a very important day for sharing AAUW's message." AAUW is a nationwide organization promoting education and equity for women and girls. The local AAUW branch is celebrating its 75 year in Palo Alto County.
