PACHS Hosts Student Sports Physicals Event

By Staff | Jun 23, 2016

Palo Alto County Health System (PACHS) will be holding a special evening Sports Physical event on Wednesday, July 20, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Family Practice Clinic in Emmetsburg.

At this event, students will receive a comprehensive sports physical, an immunization review, and health and nutrition information.

The cost for this event is a special price of only $10 per student, and the full $10 will be donated to the Palo Alto County School of their choice.

Appointments for this event are preferred and can be made by calling 712-852-5555. A few appointments will be open for walk-in on a first come first serve basis.

Students who attend the clinic without a parent should have a signed Release for Treatment Form which is available at the clinic or on the hospital’s website at www.pachs.com.

If immunizations are needed, a parent will need to be present or will be called before administration of the vaccine. Immunizations will be billed to the students insurance and are not included in the special Sports Physical fee.

This special Sports Physical event is sponsored by Palo Alto County Health System, Hughes Pharmacy and Mansmith Pharmacy.

In addition to this special one day event, Family Practice Clinics in Emmetsburg, West Bend and Graettinger will offer sports physicals during the months of June, July and August.

The Athletic School Sports Physical Exam for high school or middle school is offered at a cash discount of $30 with no insurance filed.

A second option is the Comprehensive Student Physical Exam which includes a thorough history and preventive care with time for other wellness issues teens face. This option is usually covered under a well-child check-up by your insurance and your co-pay would apply.

Mary Lee Orr, PACHS clinic manager commented, “Meeting the health and wellness needs of our local students is important to us. Our goal is to reach as many families as possible who plan to seek preventative care for their child before the next school year begins and encouraging them to attend our evening event or to make appointments at one of our three clinics this summer. “
