Emmetsburg Sophomore Selected For Special Program

Emmetsburg High School sophomore Kristen Kassel has been selected to participate in the Secondary Student Training Program at the University of Iowa Belin-Blank Center June 22 – July 29. Kassel is the daughter of Debbie and Craig Kassel of Ayrshire.

The Seconday Student Training program will allow Kassel to conduct original reserach under the guidance of a University of Iowa faculty mentor. During her time at the U of I, Kassel will spend approximately 40 hours a week engaged in research.

Her nights and weekends will be filled with social and acdemic activities on the University of Iowa campus.

“This is truly an immersion experience!” noted Mrs. Tricia Reichert, Emmetsburg High School Chemistry instructor. “This is a highly competitive program and we should be very proud of Kristen’s dedication to academic excellence for being selected to the program.”
