Catholic Daughters Holds March Meeting
Court St. Rose of Lima #14 of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas met on March 1 in the Parish Center in Emmetsburg where there was a prayer service.
Thanks-yous were read from Eldon Stoffel, Habitat for Humanity, Father Clem and Becky Smouse.
Judy reported on the pancake breakfast in January. Thank you to all who also supported the fish fry.
A donation was requested from the headquarters to purchase a bus and tractor for Kenya. Betty Drew made a motion to give a donation for the Kenya project.
The Christmas trees on the alters were new in December 2015 and discussion followed on our donating money for them. Betty Drew motioned to give a donation.
UDMO Head Start asked for a donation for Reading is Fundamental – Bertha Mathis made a motion to donate to this project.
Lou Ann as secretary and Judy as treasurer will leave their posts at the end of the CDA year. A nominating committee was formed including Lou Ann, Judy and Deb Kibbie. Coleen, Bertha, and Diane agreed to stay in their current positions for another two-year term.
Bertha shared the CDA Education Contest winners.
Upcoming events: Lifesaver Project is set for April 9 and 10th. The garage sale will be May 14 the same as the city-wide garage sales.
Circle of Love Forms will be completed by several officers and mailed to the headquarters.
Our next meeting will be Oct. 6. Dinner chairpersons are Theresa Peters and Ruth Malm.
