Palo Alto County Hospital Auxiliary Plans April Salad Luncheon

The Palo Alto County Hospital Auxiliary Board met on Wednesday, Feb. 17, in the Willow Ridge activity room. President Jane Bruch called the meeting to order. New members Rose Webb from Emmetsburg and Linda Currans from Ruthven were welcomed.

Under new business, Wednesday, April 15, is the salad luncheon and jewelry sale which will be held at the VFW. The jewelry sale will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and the luncheon will be from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The cost for a sandwich and salads will be $7 with an extra sandwich being $1 more. More planning will be done during the March meeting.

Kathy Merrill informed the board that Fun and Wellness Day will be held on May 18, at Iowa Lakes Community College in Emmetsburg. The following ideas were suggested for break out sessions: A Class on Patient Portal, Yoga, Estate Planning, Diabetes, Quilting, Cooking for One or Two, Travel, New Books and Magazines, Stroke and Heart Attack symptoms, and new trends in physical therapy.

Under unfinished business, a review of the candy sale was discussed with ideas for next year’s sale which will be Tuesday Feb. 14, 2017.

Administrator Desiree Einsweiler reported that the clinic waiting room construction would be finished in mid March. Then the business office will be the next phase of construction, followed by the Rehab being opened, and then construction on the ER area. All construction is scheduled to be finished in January 2017.

The June 15, 2016 meeting will be held at the Wagon Wheel in West Bend starting at 11:30 a.m. with a meal.

There will be a new PACH Health Care ad in the local newspaper in the next week or two. Also ads for PACH are being placed on cable channels in the county and surrounding area, and on Facebook.

Kathy also encouraged us to use the patient portal. It was suggested that, during the March meeting a demonstration/tutoring session be given on how to use the patient portal.

Membership letters were sent out and the 2016 membership list is being compiled.

Historian Diana Elbert is putting articles in the Auxiliary Historian’s Book.

The PACH Auxiliary gift shop is putting out the new spring merchandise.

The next meeting will be Wednesday, March 16, at Willow Ridge Activity Room. All are welcome to attend.
