Emmetsburg Main Street Community Theatre is excited to announce auditions for Monty Python’s “Spamalot.” This is a musical “lovingly ripped off” from the film, “Monty Python and the Holy Grail.”?

Auditions will be Monday and Tuesday, Jan. 4 and 5, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Main Street Performance Center located at 19th and Lake in Emmetsburg.

“We know this will be lots of fun to work on and perform,” said directors Jackie VanOosbree and Peggy Stolley.

Check out the show on YouTube. This will give people an idea of what the show is all about.

“We are looking for a cast of at least 20, high school age and older,” said Jackie. “King Arthur, the Lady of the Lake, the Knights of the Round Table are some of the roles. There is an ensemble of men and women and there are non-singing roles available.”

Anyone who is a fan of Monty Python will appreciate the humor. If you don’t know Monty Python — well, you should!

“We will perform ‘Spamalot’ April 8, 9, 10, 15, 16 and 17,” Peggy says. “Rehearsals will start in February. If you think you don’t have the time to do this — think again. Why miss out on all the fun??We are willing to work around everyone’s schedule.”

If audition dates do not work for everyone, contact Jackie VanOosbree or Peggy Stolley via Facebook and they will set up a time that works.

“We hope to see you at auditions,” says Jackie. “If you don’t show up, all we can say is — ‘Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries!'”
