Garden Club, Iowa Lakes Partnering For Project
A unique opportunity will be offered to area residents who enjoy working with their hands and working around their homes. The Palo Alto County Garden Club, in cooperation with Iowa Lakes Community College Continuing Education Program, will offer a one-day class on how to build a patio with paving stones and bricks.
Green Gables Landscaping of West Bend will provide the instructors for the program, which is set for Saturday, September 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The class will be conducted at the Victorian House on Main in Emmetsburg, which is located at 1703 Main Street.
The Palo Alto County Garden Club developed a plan to construct a patio at the Victorian House on Main, and in developing plans for the patio with Kevin Fehr, instructor at Iowa Lakes Community College, an idea was born to teach a class on how to build a patio for those interested. Through the Continuing Education Program at the college, this one-day class was developed.
Participants in the class will learn the process of designing a patio, planning the project and then actually participate in the construction of the patio using pavers and landscaping materials. The landscaping materials are being donated by Iowa Trust and Savings Bank, AGP-Ag Processing and MaxYield Cooperative.
Persons who wish to register for the class should contact Iowa Lakes Continuing Education at:

In case of inclement weather, the class will be conducted indoors at Iowa Lakes Community College in Emmetsburg.
