Larry Herke Promoted To Colonel In Army National Guard

Larry Joel Herke was promoted from Lieutenant Colonel to full Colonel on Oct. 1, 2011. With his promotion, he was reassigned from his duties as Mobilization Readiness Officer to Deputy Construction and Facilities Management Officer (DCFMO).

Colonel Herke’s duty station also changed from St. Paul, MN, to Camp Ripley near Little Falls, MN. His duties as DCFMO include oversight of the construction of new facilities and maintenance of all existing Army National Guard Real Property in Minnesota.

Col. Herke served 16 months in Iraq and was away from home for two years. His son, Jonathan, is also in the Minnesota Army National Guard and serves as an Information Systems Operator-Analyst with the local unit in Hastings, MN.

Col. Herke is the son of Larry W. and Sheila Herke of Mankato, MN, and grandson of the late Ed and Ina Herke of Graettinger, and the late Joy and Florence Jacobson of Cylinder.
