Michelle Stephenson and Dr. Brian Naig were united in marriage at Benson United Methodist Church in Benson, North Carolina, on Aug. 28, 2010, at 5 p.m. with the Reverends Ron Patton and Brian Few officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Christopher and Mia Stephenson of Benson. The groom is the son of Tim and Jane Naig of Cylinder. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Kuecker and the late Mr. and Mrs. Torger Naig.
The bride was escorted by her father and presented in marriage by her parents. She wore a formal candlelit ivory couture A-line gown. The dress featured a strapless sweetheart neckline with Aloncen lace that adorned the gown underneath ruching from a symmetrical bodice. The dramatic back design was created by scalloped lace edging feauturing a deep-V seam where buttons lined down to the floor to complete a chapel length train. She also wore a blusher and chapel length veil during the ceremony, and carried a bouquet of white and blush colored garden roses, orchids, stephanotis, freesia, and lilies.
The bride’s sisters, Jessica and Melissa Stephenson, served as maids of honor. The bridesmaids were Kyla Naig, sister of the groom; Diana Ortosky, Kim Lair, and Cindy Le, cousins of the bride; and Nina Gunnell, friend of the bride. Cassidy Lair, cousin of the bride, served as flower girl.
Tim Naig, father of the groom, served as the best man. The groomsmen were Nick Orhtman, Nick Reid, Tom Ausborn, and Al Montag, all friends of the groom; and Tim Le and Michael Nguyen, cousins of the bride. Mitchell Naig, cousin of the groom, was the ring bearer.
The reception, hosted by the bride’s parents, was held at Barclay Villa in Angier. On Sept. 25, the groom’s parents hosted a second reception at the Water’s Edge near Algona.
The bride is a graduate of South Johnston High School and the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. She also received a master’s degree from North Carolina Central University. She is employed as a speech language pathologist at Johnston Medical Center.
The groom is a graduate of Emmetsburg High School and Iowa State University. He also received a doctorate of optometry degree at Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee. Dr. Naig is employed at Professional Eye Care.
After a honeymoon trip to St. Lucia in the West Indies, the couple resides in Benson, North Carolina.
