New Faces to Area School Board

With absentee ballots and ballets at the poll tallied the Emmetsburg School District will see three new faces as Directors on the School Board. Write in ballots will be awarded on Wednesday, Nov. 6. The unofficial results from Tuesday, November 5 are as follows:

Emmetsburg Community School District Director

Four seats were up for grabs this year with Director Rick Brennan finishing out his appointment and choosing not to run again and incumbents Scott Kibbie Ed Meyer, and Dan Chism all running for re-election. Running against the incumbents were Val W. Morton, Katy Thomsen, and Bill Huberty looking for votes to earn a seat on the school board.

With the polls closed, the unofficial results are, for the Emmetsburg School District Director: Bill Huberty 799 total (23.13 %), Scott Kibbie 717 total (20.75 %), Katy Thomsen 610 total (17.66 %), Val W. Morton 527 total (15.25 %), Ed Meyer 474 total (13.72 %), and Dan Chism 319 total (9.23 %). Nine write-in votes were also cast (.26 %).

A total of 3,455 votes were cast for Emmetsburg School Board Director openings.
