A Mass of Christian Burial for Dorthea "Dode" Rosacker is Wednesday, June 26, at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ruthven. Celebrant is the Rev. Bill Schreiber.

Interment is at Calvary Cemetery, Ruthven. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Ruthven is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Tuesday, June 25, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Ruthven.

Dorthea Irene Rosacker, daughter of William and Beulah (Lukins) Brennan was born Dec. 24, 1924 in Ruthven. She received her education in Ruthven, graduating from Ruthven High School in 1942. As a child Dode loved riding horses and showing her horse, Tony, which was her favorite. She also enjoyed playing basketball during her school years, which sparked her enthusiasm for following all types of sporting events throughout her life. After high school she continued her education at Emmetsburg Junior College for two years.

On April 23, 1946, Dode was united in marriage to Marvin William Rosacker at the Sacred Heart Rectory in Ruthven. To this union seven children were born.

Dode worked as the bookkeeper for Ervin Miller at his trucking firm, the stockyards, and his gas station for many years. She was a devoted homemaker and farmwife. Dode was also employed for the City of Ruthven and she helped at the Martin-Mattice Funeral Home for several years.

Dode was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Guild in Ruthven.

When Marv played baseball she enjoyed going to watch his games. She always stayed current on her grandchildren's sporting events and loved watching the Hawkeyes. First and foremost, Dode loved her family and all of the visits from her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her family will certainly remember her wonderful cooking, especially her fried chicken.

Dode passed away Friday, June 21, 2019, at PARC Hall in Emmetsburg, at the age of 94. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marvin in 1985; two sons, Larry and William Rosacker; a granddaughter, Katie Jones; her brothers, Thomas Brennan and William Brennan; and sisters, Kathleen Frederick and Mary Jean Gibson.

She is survived by her children, Carolyn (Ted) Brown of Storm Lake, Linda (Sid) Jones of Jefferson, Bill (Marcia) Rosacker of LeMars, Janet (Kris) Ausborn of Waukee, and Dan (Sheri) Rosacker of Forest City; 13 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; a sister, Margian TenEyck of Cerritos, CA; sister-in-law, Janis Brennan of Emmetsburg; brother-in-law, Lee Frederick of Emmetsburg; several nieces and nephews; her PARC Hall family and caregivers; as well as many other relatives and friends.
