Emmetsburg Has Lost Their Chance

March 26, 2019
Emmetsburg News

To the Editor:

My family and I were distressed at the news that Joe Carter was dismissed as a candidate for Emmetsburg Community Schools superintendent.

In my experience with our school system, spanning 12 years, I found Mr. Carter to be a quality, caring, and experienced teacher, coach, and administrator. Now, another school system will reap the benefits from this exceptional person.

I do not question the qualifications of the preferred candidate, but have to wonder how Mr. Carter was passed over when he was already in our system and amply able to take over the position.

It used to be that our educational system would hire from within before looking elsewhere. All I can say is that Emmetsburg has lost their chance at having a qualified, dedicated, local man at the helm of our community schools. I, for one, am very sad to see him go.
