Services for Jeanette Rose (Millea) Smith were held Saturday, Mar. 2 at Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg. Rev. Bill Schreiber officiated.

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Emmetsburg, when weather permits. Martin-Matice Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Jeanette entered this world with twin sister Jean on Nov. 23, 1931 in Emmetsburg, the daughters of Hilary Millea and Lillian (Flaherty) Millea.

Jeanette grew up in Emmetsburg, where she graduated from Emmetsburg Catholic High School in 1949. She was one of 11 children, including 3 sets of twins. They grew up together as a large and loving Irish family during the Great Depression and World War II.

In l951, she married Cecil Smith, and they made their home in Emmetsburg, where they raised six children.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Cecil, son Verne, five sisters: Veronica Ohrtman, Ruth Avila, Catherine Mettler, Jean Millea, and Eileen Millea; and brother Tom Millea.

Left to cherish her memory are five children, Carolyn Griffin of Tampa, FL; Nile Smith (Susan) of Chariton; Celine Collins (Glen) of Kilkenny, Ireland; Ronald Smith of Emmetsburg; and Jacqueline Miller of New Smyrna Beach, FL, two brothers, Jim Millea of Hartwick, NY, and Bob Millea (Becky) of Tulsa, OK; twin sisters, Maureen Hemann (Bob) and Madeline Lynch of Emmetsburg; 11 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.
