The Class 1A Regional Duals was held at the Emmetsburg High School where the E-Hawks hosted Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center, Graettinger-Terrill/Ruthven-Ayrshire and Central Springs.

The #6 ranked E-Hawks went up against AC/GC in the first dual and took control of the night in dominating fashion. The only losses in the first dual were at 113-pounds and 120-pounds. Sean Brennan (113) took control quickly in the 1st period maintaining a solid top position against his opponent Seth Danker. At the end of the 1st period, the score was Brennan 9 and Danker 2. Although Brennan started out strong, Danker was able to capitalize and secured a pin.

The dominant performances began at the 132-pound bout with Ethan Berven matched up against Gunner Larsen. Berven showed a calm and overpowering performance by taking an early 2-0 lead after securing Larsen's back. With just 16 seconds left in the 1st period, Berven was able to take the first pin of the E'Hawks night.

Spencer Griffin went up against Gabe Rowley at the 145-pound bout. Griffin grabbed an easy double leg at the 1:34 mark and maintained a solid top position all the way until there were just 4 seconds left where he was able to secure a pin.

Amongst a few forfeitures by A-C/GC, the other E-Hawks, Mason Griffin (160), Matt Wirtz (170), Jon Lace II (195), and Evan Brennan helped to solidify the 6 pins in the first dual.

Head Coach Tyler Bjustrom, "I told our guys it doesn't matter who we wrestle, we have an identity and we aren't going to change that based on our opponent".

Headed into the 2nd dual of the night, the E-Hawks were seen waiting along the mat line watching Central Springs and G-T/R-A finish. By the time the E-Hawks had finished their dual, the other was still on the 152-pound bout allowing plenty of time to adjust and game plan.

"I've gotten to know [G-T/R-A] very well over the season and it is never a team to take lightly", Bjustrom said. "Our guys were ready and all of those sacrifices we've made from last year until now, we really needed every one of those tonight and will need them going forward".

Facing the hardened G-T/R-A Titans, the E-Hawks weren't able to make such quick work of their opponents as the first dual. After several exciting matches, the Emmetsburg E-Hawks were victorious earning the State Qualifier banner for the 2018-19 season.
