Thursday/Friday Action: E-Hawks fall in successive nights

Emmetsburg put up a fight on Thursday night but were edged by the Tornadoes to fall by a 2-1 final score. The loss drops the E-Hawks to 3-4 on the season.

Emmetsburg was scoreless until the top of the fifth inning. Hunter McAllister led off with a walk and stole second. After a ground out by Nick Schany, Jeremiah Weir hit a single to bring McAllister home. Weir would advance to third base with two outs, and Lex Kassel got on base off an error, but the two E-Hawks would be left waiting when Dylan Kibbie flew out.

For the E-Hawks, Corbin Saathoff took the loss, giving up two runs, one earned, off three hits with three walks and three strikeouts.

The boys saw their record fall to 3-5 Friday night with a 13-3 loss to the Titans of South Central Calhoun.

The teams played two scoreless innings. In the top of the third, South Central Calhoun pushed four runs over the plate before the Emmetsburg defense could recover. The E-Hawks answered with three runs in the bottom of the third

In the top of the fourth, South Central Calhoun scored five more runs . Emmetsburg would be shutout in their half of the inning. The Titans would add a run in the top of the sixth to take a 10-3 lead.

Titans added three runsin the seventh. Ben Dunlap pitched three innings, gave up nine runs, with two walks and two strikeouts. Lex Kassel pitched four innings gave up four runs, one earned, with four walks and four strikeouts.
