"Young Frankenstein, the Musical" is based on the hit 1974 movie, "Young Frankenstein" written by Mel Brooks and Gene Wilder. "Young Frankenstein" was a spoof of old horror films of the 1930s and 1940s- "Frankenstein," "Bride of Frankenstein," "Son of Frankenstein," "Ghost of Frankenstein" and others. The gothic Victorian novel, "Frankenstein " written by Mary Shelley was the inspiration for all of the Frankenstein movies.

Frederick Frankenstein doesn't want to be remembered for his late grandfather's insane efforts to create life from inanimate material. He is a scientist. Frederick is notified that he must travel to Transylvania to check into the estate of his departed relatives.

He is met by Igor who wants to be his assistant much like his grandfather was for Frederick's grandfather. He has hired a young woman, Inga, to assist them.

Frau Blucher leads them to the laboratory where the Baron created his monsters and shows Frederick the Baron's book of instructions. Frederick is inspired to try to create his own monster. The villagers hear about this and want to destroy the monster. Frederick is able to save the monster in the end .

"Young Frankenstein, the Musical" will be performed April 6, 7, 8, 13, 14 and 15. Jackie VanOosbree and Peggy Stollley will direct.
