Have A Voice

January 30, 2018
Emmetsburg News

I am watching the movie Selma on our Federal Holiday Martin Luther King Jr Day. This year is the 50th anniversary of his assassination.

I am saddened as I watch this movie about how human beings were treated in my life time. Now with the way OUR President Donald Trump refers to human beings saddens me and I am called to action.

I write this editorial to ask people of the United States of America to stand up, pay attention to what OUR President is saying and doing and take action in word and deed to stop racism in America once and for ALL.

I want the United States of America to be the land of the free and the home of the brave.

I do not want history and fate to meet again in brutality, hatred, ignorance, heart ache and bloodshed.

We shall reap what we sow. Let's treat others the way we want to be treated.

Stand up for people that are less fortunate.

Stand up in situations that are not right.

Have a voice.

Take a stand in love, kindness and appreciation for what America stands for.

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

Stand Up.

God Bless,
