E-Hawk JV Wrestlers Fare Well In Own Tournament

Emmetsburg's E-Hawk Junior Varsity wrestling team hosted their own JV?Invitational Tournament on Jan. 8 and captured several solid finishes during the event.

In Bracket Two, Kaleb Schleisman earned a second place finish and earned a total of 12 team points. In the first round, Schleisman lost a 5-3 decision to Evan Deal of Algona but in round two, he earned a :28 win by fall over Lance Teeselink of Eagle Grove. In his final match, Schleisman won a 5-0 decision victory over Noah Hughes of Spirit Lake Park.

In Bracket Five, Andrew Walker would earn a second place finish for the E-Hawk JV, scoring 12 team points. In the first round match, Walker won a 6-4 decision over Sumay Oh of Storm Lake, and then earned a 1:16 win by fall over Kenny Rasch of Spencer. In the third round, Walker would come up short in a 4-0 decision loss to Tanner Myer of Humboldt.

Action in Bracket 10 saw Colton Anderson earn a third place finish for Emmetsburg with nine team points. For his first round match, Anderson was edged in a 7-6 decision loss to Caleb Talbot of Algona, but in the second round, Anderson recorded a 1:50 win by fall over Logan Crouse of Manson Northwest Webster. For the final match, Anderson would lose a 10-0 Major Decision to Timmy Larson of Humboldt.

Wrestling in Bracket 11, Brad Wirtz claimed the championship for the E-Hawks, earning 20 team points on the night.

In the first round, Wirtz earned a 1:49 win by fall over Titan Coleman of Spencer and then tallied a :51 win by fall over Cael Lundy of Cherokee in the second round match.

In the final round of the bracket, Wirtz recorded a 2:56 win by fall over Edgar Tapia of Spirit Lake to win his championship.

In Bracket 14, Emmetsburg's Zach Yates placed second to earn 13 team points.

In the first round, Yates earned 14-0 Major Decision victory over Dakota Meyer of Cherokee, but in the second round, Yates lost a 6-1 decision to Collin Murphy of Algona.

In the final match, Yates would earn a 3:52 win by fall over Grant Calmer of Manson Northwest Webster to close out the action for the E-Hawks.
