The Lady E-Hawks got out to an early lead, as they led 14-10 after the first quarter and 28-24 at halftime. Emmitsburg held a digit lead, 39-38 at the end of the third frame, but with 4:00 to play, Bishop Garrigan took the lead and slowly edged out to take the 51-46 final margin of victory.

For Emmetsburg, Abbie Schany led the scoring with 14 points, while Gretchen Hofstad added 10 points. Lindsay Carter and Molly Schany would both score eight points in the contest, while Raven Brown chipped in four points and Mackie King scored two points.

In the boys contest, Emmetsburg ran afoul of a highly aggressive Bishop Garrigan defense, which pressured the E-Hawks and capitalized on turnovers to take a 21-8 lead after one quarter. The Golden Bears led 36-11 at the intermission and in the third quarter, the continuous clock rule came into effect as Emmetsburg would trail 15-54 at the end of the third quarter.

Down the stretch, Bishop Garrigan would pull away to take the 70-20 final victory.

Emmetsburg would be led in their first outing by the eight points of Hunter McAllister. Zach Mason and Blake VerMulm would both tally four points in the contest, while Corbin Saathoff tallied three points and Tim Geelan added a free throw to round out the scoring.

Emmetsburg will start the regular season on Tuesday, Nov. 28, when they return home to host the Cherokee Braves in a girl-boy doubleheader. JV action will start at 5:30 p.m.
