Attempted Murder Charges Filed

A report of a shots fired at a vehicle has resulted in Attempted Murder Charges against an Ayrshire man and a Spencer resident.

According to Palo Alto County Sheriff Lynn Schultes, at 1:47 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, the Palo Alto County Sheriff's Office received a report of shots being fired at a vehicle at the intersection of 460th Avenue and 420th Street. The caller, 20-year old Christian Eberle of Albert City reported that a vehicle, later identified as a white 2002 Buick Lesabre, was following him and had fired numerous rounds into his vehicle, a black 2006 Dodge Charger, as Eberle was turning west onto 420th Street.

Eberle reported that one of the bullets that was fired had struck him. Eberle provided law enforcement with a description of the vehicle, which was stopped by the Spencer Police Department a short time later.

During the course of the investigation into the incident, the Palo Alto County Sheriff's Office collected numerous items of evidence, which led to the issuance of several search warrants. Following the investigation and collection of evidence, arrest warrants were issued for 18-year old Garret Wasson of Spencer and 18-year old Konner Mills of Ayrshire. Both Garret Wassom and Konner Mills were arrested at a residence in Spencer at 2:00 p.m. Nov. 16, with the cooperation of the Spencer Police Department, Clay County Sheriff's Office, and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigations.

Garret Wasson and Konner Mills were each charged with Attempted Murder, a Class B felony and Going Armed with Intent, a class D felony. Bond was set at $250,000 cash only for each defendant. Both Wassom and Mills are currently being held in the Palo Alto County Jail.

The investigations into this incident are continuing and further charges are pending.
