Emmetsburg Volleyball Has Solid Season

The 2017 season for Emmetsburg's Lady E-Hawk Volleyball team may have ended in the opening round of post-season play, but the season was filled with several positives for first-year Head Coach Missy Birkey and her squad. Ending the campaign with an 11-19 overall match record, the Lady E-Hawks lose just two seniors and will feature an experienced club next season.

As a team during the 2017 season, Emmetsburg's players would make a total of 2,086 attack attempts, with 594 successful kills for a .118 percent kill efficiency. That would average 6.99 kills in their 85 sets. The Lady E-Hawks completed 1,358 serves out of 1,552 attempts for serving efficiency of .875 percent, with 161 ace serves for an average o 1.89 aces per set.

Defensively, the Lady E-Hawks dug out 869 shots in 85 sets, an average of 10.22 digs per set, and came away with 541 assists, while tallying 54 solo blocks and 58 assisted blocks for a total of 112 blocks on the season, an average of 1.32 blocks per set.

Individually, Molly Schany led the offense with 649 attacks and 231 kills, and added 94 of 127 serves with 16 aces. The sophomore dished out 10 assists, dug out 68 shots and blocked 31 shots during the season.

Senior Parker Traub added 494 attacks with 146 kills and connected on 259 of 289 serves with 46 aces. Traub led the defense by handing out 260 assists, with 138 digs, and 12 blocks on the season.

Abbie Schany would contribute 302 attacks with 68 kills and made 120 of her 147 serves with eight aces. The Freshman handed out 15 assists, but made 159 digs and blocked 11 shots.

Gretchen Hofstad came away with 179 attacks with 53 kills and made 144 serves out of 161 attempts with 17 aces. The sophomore dished out 39 assists with 24 digs to her credit and blocked 22 shots during the campaign.

Senior Emma Anderson would come away with 231 attacks and 48 kills, while making two ot two serves and adding 39 assists with 24 digs, as well as 22 blocks for the season.

Morgan Jamison would make 119 attacks and 24 kills, while connecting on 156 of 177 serves with 17 aces. The sophomore added five assists and made 60 digs, while blocking two shots.

Molly McCain made 34 attacks with 11 kills and connected on 30 of 36 serves with one ace. The junior added seven assists and dug out 16 shots for the season.

Macy McAllister would made 59 attacks and tallied nine kills, with 203 of 217 serves for 12 aces. The freshman also dished out 153 assists, dug out 79 shots and made 10 blocks.

Brielle Madden would make 15 attacks with four kills and connected on 92 of 91 serves with nine aces, and handed out four assists with nine digs and a block as a freshman.

Lindsay Carter added five attacks but made 267 of 303 serves with 35 aces. The sophomore libero had nine assist and 182 digs on the season for the Lady E-Hawks.
