Grimms' Fairy Tales were a part of growing up for countless generations of youth, but as times have changed, well, why not update some of those classic tales? The Emmetsburg High School Drama Department is proud to bring "The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon" to the stage of the Emmetsburg High School next week. The curtain will rise at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2 and Saturday, Nov. 4 in the EHS?Auditorium, 205 King Street.

Several of the classic Brothers' Grimm Fairy Tales receive a "modernization" in the presentation, which is sure to bring smiles and create lots of laughter for the audience.

As in any good story, you must have a narrator - and there are two narrators for the Spectaculathon. Emily Fuller and Thomas Woodford will guide the audience (and characters) through the re-telling of some of the Grimm brothers' classic tales.

Imagine trying to tell the story of Cinderella with just one actress playing the roles of Cinderella, the mean Step Mother, even meaner step-sisters, Prince Charming and a flock of helpful birds, all at the same time. The story of Rapunzel receives a modernization, along with the story of Snow White and Hansel and Gretl, just to name a few of the classics receiving a new look in the production.

Actors who will play a variety of roles include Hannah Joyce, Linnea Ankeny, Rebecca Farris, Aidan Leuer, Kristen Kassel, Hannah Merwald, Jonah Hacbarth-Morlock, Alexis Louwagie, Calvin Hart and Breanna Fitzgerald. Also playing roles in the production iare Kristen Davis, Colton Johnson, Aliza Woodford, Drew Sidels, Flavio Ponci, Mary Nelson, Niyah Morgan, Esther Stroem, Michaela Radeck, Maggie Nelson, Rylee Murphy, Alexandra Johnsen and Lucian Benjamin.

Deborah Benjamin is the Director of the production, and is assisted by Todd Benjamin and Jessica Biddle. Serving on the stage crew are Terry Lowry and Niklas Kulms with technical staff members Caitlynn Nestvold, Alex Lowman, Laura Gustafson and Dan Voigt. The Emmetsburg High School Art Club and instructor Darci Farnum are in charge of set design and scenery for the production.

The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon takes the stage Thursday, Nov. 2 and Saturday, Nov. 4 in the high school auditorium at 7:30 p.m. each night. Tickets are available in the high school office or at the door each performance.
