Wolverines Earn Homecoming Win

WEST?BEND - It was a very happy Homecoming for the West Bend-Mallard/ Gilmore City-Bradgate Wolverines Friday as they earned a 73-28 victory over Clay Central-Everly. The win improves the Wolverines to a mark of 1-2 in Eight Man District One play and 3-2 overall on the season.

The Wolverines took control of the contest from the opening kick and never had to look back, as the purple and gold racked up 243 yards of rushing in the contest and added 28 passing yards.

Dexter Knobloch would have a great night, as he rushed for three touchdowns, with a long score of 39-yards and kicked an extra point. Knobloch carried the football nine times to gain 88 yards for the Wolverines.

Thad Fogarty would score two touchdowns, one off a 50-yard kickoff return, as he carried the football just five times and gained 77 yards, including a 47-yard touchdown run.

Coleman Grimm added two carries for 19 yards and a 14-yard touchdown run, while Cole Thilges had six carries for 13 yards and a 10-yard touchdown run as well.

Creytan Grimm made six rushes for 18 yards and scored off a seven-yard run, while Jared Schmidt added seven carries for 26 yards and Cole Hoskins added two ruses for two yards.

Danie Riesenberg would make one reception of 28 yards in the contest, as Cole Hoskins attempted just the one pass during the contest.

Trinton Schmidt would score a 60-yard kick-off return for a touchdown for the Wolverines in the contest as well.

Defensively, WBM/GCB gog seven tackles from Danie Riesenberg along with four quarterback sacks, and six and a half stops from Creytan Grimm and Branden Fehr, who added two sacks. Coleman Grimm had five tackles, while Cole Thilges and Lane Schmidt both made three tackles, as did Mason Studer, who added a quarterback sack to the effort.

The Wolverines will face a monumental challenge this Friday night as they make the trip to Lake Park to take on the Wolves of Harris-Lake Park in Eight-Man District play.
