Lady E-Hawks Win Own Invite

Emmetsburg's Lady E-Hawks won their own E-Hawk Invitational Cross Country meet Monday at the Five Island Golf Course. The varsity girls won with 21 points ahead of Bishop Garrigan, West Bend-Mallard/Gilmore City-Bradgate and North Iowa.

Leading the way for Emmetsburg was Raven Brown in first place in 20:48, while Gabrielle Janssen was second in 21:55. Hailey Foxhoven was third in 22:18, while Isabelle Householder finished seventh in 23:20.

Raylene Poeppe was eighth in 23:34 and Taylor Steinkamp was 11th in 24:57, while Mary Nelson finished 23rd in 28:56.

In the JV?girls race, Allison Fischer was first in 25:24 while Esther Storem was second in 26:04. Emily Fuller finished fourth in 27:21, while Hannah Merwald was fifth in 27:32 and Maggie Nelson finished ninth in 31:30.

The Middle School girls race saw Taytum Sargeant finished 22nd in 15:06, while Mattie Dooley was 41st in 16:41. Isabel Davis finished 48th in 17;16 and Katie Nelson was 69th in a time of 21:40.

In the boys division, Emmetsburg would finish third with 89 points behind Sibley-Ocheyedan with 40 points and Remsen St. Mary's with 51 points. Bishop Garrigan was fourth with 120 points.

For Emmetsburg, Adam Berkland finished 10th in 19:45 and was followed by Cade Jacobson in 16th place in 20:29. Zach Mason was 19th in 21:04 and Dawson Moen was 21st in 21:37. Adam Deitering finished 23rd in 22:23, while Jacob Null was 25th in 22:32 and Jacob Frields finished 27th in 23:19.

The Junior Varsity boys were led by Niklas Kulms first-place finish in 22:23, while Brennan Duhn was second in 22:35. Jordan Ruff was third in 24:01, while Jonah Hackbarth-Morlock was fourth in 25:12 and Jackson Lowman finished fifth in 31:14.

The Middle School runners also participated on Monday and Emmetsburg would be led by the ninth place finish of Quinn Swift in 12:12. Isaac Janssen was tenth in a time of 12:17, while Alex Laubenthal finished 42nd in 14:34. Ryerson Boevers would finish in 64th place in 16:14 and Gavin Swift rounded out the effort with his 65th place finish in a time of 16:22.

Next action for the Harriers will be Monday, Sept. 18 at the Humboldt Invitational.
