Victor D. Rouse

Services for Victor Rouse were held on Monday, Sept. 11 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in?Ayrshire. Reverend Tom Summerfield officiated.

Interment was in Silver Lake Cemetery in Ayrshire. Martin-Mattice Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Victor Dean Rouse, son of Cyril and Libbia (Josifek) Rouse, was born April 7, 1935 at home near Ayrshire. He was baptized and confirmed in the United Methodist Church where he remained a member his entire life. He received his education in Ayrshire.

On Oct. 30, 1955, Vic was united in marriage to Eileen Michael at the Methodist Church in Estherville. To this union four children were born.

Vic had a dairy herd for many years, milking cows for fifty years. He also did custom hauling for area farmers. He spent all of his life on the farm and he truly loved farming.

In later years Vic enjoyed camping. He especially loved spending time with his family and keeping up on his grandchildren's activities. Vic and Eileen spent twelve years wintering in Florida.

Vic was a member of the United Methodist Church in Ayrshire, serving as church trustee. He also served on the Ayrshire Elevator Board, the West Bend Elevator Board and had served as a 4-H leader of the Silver Lake Cruisers. Vic was a fifty year member of the Masonic Lodge.

Vic and Eileen made their home on the farm where his parents began farming and where Vic was born. Their farm was a Century Farm in 2007.

Vic passed away Thursday, Sept. 7, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center in Mason City, at the age of 82. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, DeWayne and Cyril Rouse; a great granddaughter, Halle Jade; Sister-in-law, Jean Rouse, and brother-in-law, Leo Hansen.

He is survived by his wife, Eileen of Curlew; his children, Vicki (Greg) Egland of Cylinder, Sherry Rouse of Johnston, Rodney (Althea) Rouse of Webster City, and Lori (Roger) Williamson of Ruthven; ten grandchildren; thirty great grandchildren; Sisters-in-law, Maxine Hansen and Marylin Rouse, as well as many other relatives and friends.
