NORTHWOOD - It took a big defensive stand in overtime for the Wolverines of West Bend-Mallard/Gil-more City-Bradgate to earn a 30-22 win over Northwood-Kensett Friday night in gridiron action.

The Wolverines held a 22-8 lead at halftime, but Northwood-Kensett scored 14 unanswered points to tie the game at 22-22 just prior to the end of regulation.

The Wolverines got the ball first in the overtime and quarterback Lincoln Fehr hit Danie Riesenberg with a 12-yard fade for a touchdown. A quick pass to Riesenberg for the two-point conversion gave the Wolverines a 30-22 lead.

The defense would step up on Northwood-Kensett's possession and stopped the Vikings to earn the season opening win.

Thad Fogarty would lead theWolverine rushing attack and one touchdown, while Lincoln Fehr passed for two touchdowns and ran for a score. Danie Riesenberg made both touchdown receptions for the Wolverines.

"This was a priceless experience for these kids to get,"?noted Wolverine Head Coach Shawn Morris. "It was just a fantastic game for these kids to experienc. They had highs and lows and they responded very well as a team, made a great defensive effort and I'm very pleased."
