RAGBRAI Highlights For Monday

Iowa's annual Des Moines Register's Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa will be coming through Palo Alto County early next week.

RAGBRAI is fast approaching with the first day of the ride beginning Sunday, July 23. Four area communities have been making preparations for several to provide food, beverages and entertainment.

The first stop for riders on Monday morning will be the community of Ayrshire. Riders will find a few pieces of antique farm equipment on display as they first ride into town. As they travel through the small community, they will find a fruit stand, breakfasts being served and live entertainment featuring Brad Morgan. Also displayed on Silver Lake Avenue riders will find a display of antique tractors that will transport them back to an era when farms were smaller.

Next stop for riders is the village of Curlew. This small community will be offering Food and Beverage vendors as well as a Beverage Garden.

Third stop will be in Mallard where riders will find a variety of food and beverage venders, a beverage garden, Kelly Higgins-Bay will be giving chair massages, live entertainment and much, much more.

Final stop in the County will be West Bend. This farming community will feature displays of large farm equipment and antique tractors. The majority of the action will take place on Broadway Avenue. There will be numerous vendors offering many types of food and novelty items, as well as pie and ice cream and trail mix from non-profit groups. A beverage garden will be available on Broadway Ave. and if you are brave enough, you can ride a mechanical bull. For those adventurous types, baby pigs will be featured for those who want to kiss a pig. The West Bend Fire Department will have cold beverages and live entertainment at the new fire station. Throughout the town there will be something for everyone.
