Graettinger Man Dies In Rollover Mishap

A Graettinger man died following a single vehicle accident early Saturday morning.

According to Palo Alto County Sheriff lynn Schultes, at 2:25 a.m. Saturday, July 15, the Palo Alto County Sheriff's Office received a report of a single vehicle accident in the 4100 block of 290th Street, southwest of Graettinger.

Upon the arrival of emergency responders at the accident scene and an investigation at the accident scene determined that 27-year old Jacob Alan Hoffman of Graettinger, Iowa was driving his 2001 Ford F150 westbound in the on 290th Street when the vehicle entered the north ditch.

Hoffman attempted to correct the vehicle's course of travel which resulted in the vehicle rolling multiple times and coming to rest on its top in the roadway.

As a result of the vehicle's rollover action, Hoffman was ejected from the vehicle and came to rest in the south ditch of the roadway. Hoffman was transported to the Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg by Graettinger and Emmetsburg Ambulance Services where he was later pronounced dead.

The Palo Alto County Sheriff's Office was assisted on the scene by the Emmet County Sheriff's Office, Graettinger Fire Department and Palo Alto County Ambulance Service.

The accident remains under investigation.

Funeral services for Jacob Hoffman will be Tuesday, July 18, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Graettinger.
