Emmetsburg Falls To Spirit Lake In League Finale

The regular season ended Thursday night for Emmetsburg's E-Hawks with a makeup game with Spirit Lake. But, the Indians would come away with a 15-2 win over Emmetsburg to end the season with a 9-15 mark overall and 4-8 league record.

Spirit Lake would score a run in the top of the first as Emmetsburg stranded Jeremiah Weir in the bottom of the inning. In the top of the second, the Indians would add another run for a 2-0 lead as the E-Hawks would leave Matt Kibbie on base as the inning ended.

The top of the third saw Spirit Lake send 11 batters to the plate and use three singles and four walks to score six runs for an 8-0 advantage.

The E-Hawks would go down one out, but got a base hit from Dylan Kibbie before Will Schany was walked. Jeremiah Weir would hit a double to score Kibbie and a ground out of Connor Joyce allowed Schany to score, but Weir would be left waiting when the inning ended with Emmetsburg trailing 8-2.

Spirit Lake would send 11 batters to the plate in the top of the fourth and used two singles, a double and five walks to end up scoring seven runs for a 15-2 lead.

In the bottom of the fifth, Emmetsburg would be retired in order to end the contest.

Hunter McAllister would take the loss as he pitched two innings and gave up seven runs, all earned, off five hits, while walking three batters. Max Dunlap pitched one inning and surrendered three runs, all earned, off two hits, with four walks. Ben Dunlap would pitch two innings and gave up five runs, all earned, off three hits, with three walks.

The E-Hawks would get a double from Jeremiah Weir, while Dylan Kibbie and Matt Kibbie both tallied base hits in the effort for Emmetsburg.
