RUTHVEN - What's your favorite thing about Bully Bullhead Weekend? This year's theme Kickin It Old School was chosen as the Ruthven/Ruthven-Ayrshire All-School Reunion will be held on Saturday evening in conjunction with BBW celebrating its 25th year. The annual celebration, July 7th, 8th and 9th, 2017 brings former Ruthvenittes and family back to town for a fun-filled family celebration that is three days long!

BBW 2017 kicks off on Friday morning with the BBW Tractor Ride with registration beginning at 7:00 AM. The ride will take off towards Lost Island, Graettinger and Trumbull Lake at 8:00 AM. The noon lunch will be back at Bully's in Ruthven with an optional afternoon ride to Salton Park at Silver Lake and back to Ruthven. There will be a bike ride around Lost Island Lake Friday morning as well with bikers leaving the Lost Island Nature Center at 9:00 a.m. Other Friday events include the free community pork patty/hot dog feed sponsored by the Iowa State Bank. This is also the location for Jon Josephson to be honored as Citizens of the Year at 5:40 PM. Other Friday events include the 4th grade through high school 3 on 3 basketball tournament at Centennial Park & Pool. The Kids Pedal Tractor Pull begins at 6:00 PM near the Catholic Church. End the night at Bully's Bar & Grill with Big Nacho Karaoke starting at 9:00 p.m.

Set the alarm clock early on Saturday as things get going early with the BBW Fishing Contest at 7:00 AM. This year's contest features over $3,000 in cash prizes and has contests for all types of fish from walleye to carp and of course still has the 3 tagged bullheads worth $500 each. Register and get more details at Grandview Resort, Bobber Down Bait & Tackle, Lost Island Bait & Tackle (formerly Murphy's Bait Shop), or Redwood Resort.

The Mason's Turkey Fillet & Brat feed will again be located on the green space across from the post office starting at 11:00 AM. And of course, look for the Ruthven-Lost Island Railroad Express giving free train rides for the kids!

At noon, the BBW Cruise In kicks off at Cricket Park on Gowrie by the railroad tracks and one event everyone loves - is the large parade! The BBW parade featuring the 'World Famous Abu Bekr White Horse Mounted Patrol' will start at 1:30 PM leaving from the south end of the football field and traveling the same parade route as years past east past Lakeland EZ Stoppe then north through the residential area back to Gowrie Street through the downtown area.
