Lady E-Hawks Fall At Estherville Lincoln Central

ESTHERVILLE?- A quick start by the Midgets of Estherville Lincoln Central spelled trouble for Emmetsburg's Lady E-Hawks and a 12-4 loss Monday night. The loss dropped Emmetsburg to 12-16 on the year and 3-8 in Lakes Conference play.

Emmetsburg would go down in order to start the contest Monday, and the Midgets would erupt for five runs in the bottom of the first inning, using a pair of errors, along with a single to score two runs before a three-run homer put them on top when the inning ended, despite leaving a runner stranded at second.

The Lady E-Hawks would get Molly Schany on base off a single, but she was put out on Annie Brennan's fiedlers' choice. Brennan's courtesy runner, Ali Laubenthal, would be left waiting at second when the at-bat ended.

ELC?would plate another run in the bottom of the second off a pair of base hits to improve to a 6-0 advantage as the third inning started, but Emmetsburg would be retired in order once again. The Midgets would get a runner to third off a base hit but left her stranded to end the third.

In the fourth, Emmetsburg got a leadoff single from Kate Jackson and followed it with a base hit from Molly Schany, before Annie Brennan was put out, but Jackson came home to score her run. Schany would score off an error as Emma Anderson was walked, and took third base off back-to-back errors before being stranded when the at-bat ended.

ELC?would respond with three runs of their own in the bottom of the fourth to make the score 9-2.

Emmetsburg would get two more runs in the top of the fifth, as Raven Brown led off with a walk and was followed on base by Macy McAllister with a single. Brown scored off McAllister's hit and McAllister came home off Sara Simington's sacrifice out for a 9-4 score.

The Midgets would leave a runner stranded in their half of the fifth, but in the top of the sixth, Emmetsburg got Annie Brennan on base off a walk, but courtesy runner Ali Laubenthal was left waiting at third.

ELC?would push three more runs over the plate in the bottom of the sixth off a base hit and a two-run home run shot for a 12-4 lead.

In the top of the seventh, Emmetsburg went down in order to end the game.

Mikayla Frerichs took the loss, giving up two runs, two earned, off 14 hits, with five strikeouts.

Emmetsburg got two hits from Molly Schany, while Macy McAllister, Sarah Simington and Lindsay Carter all had base hits.
