Emmetsburg News

An investigation is continuing into an accident that claimed the life of a Graettinger teenager over the past weekend.

According to Palo Alto County Sheriff Lynn Schultes, the Palo Alto County Sheriff's Office and Graettinger Ambulance were called at 12:20 a.m. Sunday, March 25, to respond to an unresponsive 16-year old male lying in the road in the 600 block of North Walnut Street in Graettinger. Upon arrival at the scene, the Graettinger and Emmetsburg Ambulance Services transported Noah M. Flaherty of Graettinger to the Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg, where resucitation efforts were administered. However, those efforts were unsuccessful and Noah M. Flaherty was pronounced dead at the Palo Alto County Hospital later Sunday morning.

Initial reports to the Palo Alto County Sheriff's Office indicated that Noah Flaherty had fallen from the rear of a vehicle while it was in motion.

The specific circumstances of the incident, and the cause of death of Flaherty are under investigation by the Palo Alto County Sheriff's Office.
