The two teams would trade outs in the third and fourth innings, and in the fifth, Cherokee went down in order. The E-Hawks would score three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning as Matt Kibbie led off with a single and Hunter McAllister would get on off a fielders' choice. With one out, Nick Schany would deliver a base hit that scored Kibbie and an error on Dylan Kibbie's at-bat allowed McAllister to scamper home. With two out, Will Schnay was walked, and a single from Jeremiah Weir allowed Nick Schany to score his run. However, the E-Hawks would strand both Will Schany at third and Jeremiah Weir at second when the inning came to a close.

Cherokee would strand two runners in the top of the sixth, still clinging to a 6-4 lead, but the E-Hawks would tie the game up as Brent Wesley led off the at-bat with a base hit. After a fly out by Matt Kibbie, Max Dunlap would draw a walk before an error on Hunter McAllister's at-bat put McAllister on first and moved Dunlap to second as Wesley rounded third and came home to score.

Dunlap would scurry home as McAllister attempted to steal second and was thrown out before Nick Schany hit into a ground out to end the inning in the 6-6 tie.

In the top of the seventh, Cherokee would get back-to-back base hits with two outs, but a strikeout by E-Hawk pitcher Matt Kibbie would end the threat.

Emmetsburg would come up to bat and led off with a strikeout before Will Schany got on off a base hit. Jeremiah Weir followed with a single before Connor Joyce was walked to load the bases. With the winning run waiting at third, Brent Wesley stepped up and drove a shot deep into left center to score the winning run of the contest.

Matt Kibbie went the distance on the hill for the E-Hawks, as he gave up six runs, all earned, off 10 hits, with one walk and six strikeouts.

Offensively, Brent Wesley led the E-Hawks' effort with three hits, while Matt Kibbie and Jeremiah Wier both had two hits each and Dylan Kibbie, Will Schany, Max Dunlap and Mason Carrigan all added base hits to the winning effort for Emmetsburg.
