Lady E-Hawks Win Big Against North Iowa

BUFFALO?CENTER - Emmetsburg's Lady E-Hawks needed just three innings on Tuesday night to secure an 18-0 win over North Iowa in softball action. The win improves Emmetsburg to a mark of 7-9 on the season.

Emmetsburg would start the game on a positive note as Mikayla Frerichs led off with a base hit and stole second as Lindsay Carter singled, but Frerichs was thrown out trying to score at home. Annie Brennan drew a walk before Kate Jackson singled, but Carter would be put out at third base.

Sarah Simington would single as the runs began to cross the plate. Molly Schany drew a walk before ?Morgan Jamison singled and Emma Anderson singled to bring Emmetsburg's fourth run over the plate, but Jamison and Anderson were left waiting when the at-bat ended.

North Iowa would get a base hit in the bottom of the first, but left their runner waiting when the inning ended.

In the top of the second, the Lady E-Hawks started at the top of the order once again as Mikayla Frerichs walked before Lindsay Carter flew out. Annie Brennan and Kate Jackson both singled to score Frerichs before Sarah Simington flew out. Molly Schany and Morgan Jamison were walked and Emma Anderson was hit by a pitch to bring Brennan and Jackson home.

Molly McCain drew a walk to score Molly Schany, before a wild pitch to Mikayla Frerichs allowed Morgan Jamison to come home. Frerichs would belt a single to score Emma Anderson and Molly McCain before Lindsay Carter was walked. McAllister would come home before Annie Brennan flew out to end the at-bat, but not before Emmetsburg had added eight runs to take a 12-0 lead.

North Iowa would get two runners on base in the bottom of the second inning, but left them both stranded when Emmetsburg's defense made the stop.

With a 12-0 lead to start the third inning, the Lady E-Hawks didn't let up on offense. Kate Jackson was hit by a pitch to start the inning and moved to second off a Fielders' choice on Sarah Simington's at-bat. Molly Schany would be hit by a pitch to load the bases with Lady E-Hawks before a Fielders' choice on Morgan Jamison's at-bat allowed Jackson to come home and re-load the bases.

Emma Anderson would rap out a base hit that scored Simington, but Molly McCain hit a Fielders' choice that put Molly Schany out at home for the first out. Macy McAllister would strike out, but Lindsay Carter was walked to bring Jamison over the plate before Abbie Schany delivered a two-RBI single to score Anderson and McCain before Kate Jackson hit a single to score Carter. However, Jackson and Brennan would be left waiting when Sarah Simington hit a fly ball to right field to end the at-bat.

Trailing 18-0 to start the bottom of the third inning, North Iowa would be retired off consecutive strikeouts and a fly ball to Morgan Jamison in left field to end the contest.

Mikayla Frerichs was credited with the win in the circle as she pitched two innings and gave up two hits while striking out six batters. Lindsay Carter relieved for one inning and struck out two batters.

Emmetsburg got three hits from Kate Jackson and two hits from Emma Anderson, while Macy McAllister, Mikayla Frerichs, Lindsay Carter, Annie Brennan, Abbie Schany, Sarah Simington and Morgan Jamison all added hits to the winning effort.
