Hot Shots Participate In State Trap Competition

WATERLOO - Members of the Emmetsburg Hot Shots Trapshooting Team participated last week in the Iowa Scholastic Trapshooting Program State Meet and came home with several solid finishes.

Leading the way for Emmetsburg was the Rookie team of Tate Joyce, Nathan Adams, Brice Rooney, Austin Stokes and Garrett Franker, as they shot a combined team score of 323 to earn fifth place in the Rookie division at State. In addition, Tate Joyce finished fourth as an Individual in the Rookies with his score of 85.

Garrett Franker would place eighth overall with his score of 78.

Other team scores included Brice Rooney with a 61, Austin Stokes with a 56 and Nathan Adams with a 43. There were a total of 67 boys in the Rookie division at the State Shoot.

In the Rookie Girls division, Mica Theesfeld placed 17th overall with a score of 35 and Faith Biddle was 20th with a score of four.

For the Hot Shots Intermediates "Snap" team, an 11th place was their final finish with a team score of 861. Team members were Matthew Berkland, who shot a 191 and placed in a 4-way tie for 4th in the boy's division. Tie breaker got him just out of medal contention as he finished seventh individually.

Donald Strohman shot a 177 while Aurora Peters shot a 175 and finished 10th in the individual competition. Aaron Olson shot a 165 and Cole Rouse shot a 153.

For the Hot Shots "Crackle" team, a team score of 763 earned 29th place. Elyssa Flannegan shot a 172 and finished in 11th place in the individual competition. Bryce Cooke shot a 167, while Tyler Stokes shot a 164. Dallas Clark and Jacob Frields would both shoot 160 in the competition.

A 514 score gave the Hot Shots "Pop" team a 47th place finish at state. Esben Enriquez would shoot a 175, while Carson Hoffman shot a 163. Tattum Fries shot a 104 and Bre Henricksen shot 62.

The Hot Shots also had two shooters who competed individually, as Keaton Duhn shot a 159 to finish in 153rd place and Brady Cooke shot a 118 to finish in 228th place.

The Hot Shots High School squad competed this past Saturday and were led by the 176 of Gavin Jorgenson. Austin Bergstrom shot a 163 and Matthew Hill shot a 161, while Dalton Bunda shot a 156 and Zane Wickman shot 154. Hannah Adams rounded out the effort shooting a 149.
