Brian W. Picht 1977-2017

RUTHVEN -- Funeral service for Brian Picht was held Saturday, June 10, at the Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Ruthven. The Rev. Tom Summerfield officiated.

Internment was in Crown Hill Cemetery, Ruthven. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Ruthven was in charge of arrangements.

Brian William Picht, son of Monte Paul and Deborah J. (Snavely) Picht, was born Aug. 29, 1977 in Emmetsburg. As a young boy, Brian and his family moved to Laurens where he received his education at Laurens Community School.

Following high school Brian worked in hog confinements in the area. He then moved to Kansas City where he was employed at the Kansas City International Airport in inventory distribution. After returning to Emmetsburg, Brian worked at Wild Rose Casino and Resort as security personnel until his health forced him to quit.

Brian passed away Monday, June 5, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center in Mason City, at the age of 39. He was preceded in death by his father, Monte Picht; grandparents; and two cousins, Ryan Sidles and Travis Snavely.

He is survived by his mother and step father, Deborah and Dale Mefferd of Ruthven; two brothers, Todd Picht of Davenport, and Nathaniel Mefferd of Ruthven; his grandmother, Mildred Harris of Emmetsburg; aunts and uncles, Connie (Tim) Sidles, Randy (Crystal) Snavely and Cindy (Dale) Wilcoxon.
