by Dan Voigt , Emmetsburg News

Emmetsburg's Lady E-Hawks fell victim to Humboldt in a 14-4 decision Tuesday night.

Humboldt would take a quick 1-0 lead after the opening inning, and extended their lead to 5-0, using a three-run home run shot in the top of the third inning.

The Lady E-Hawks found their bats in the bottom of the third, as Lindsay Carter, Raven Brown and Sarah Simington laid down back-to-back singles and scored. Annie Brennan would get a hit and Molly Schany cranked out a double with one out, but the pair were left waiting.

With a 5-3 lead, Humboldt tacked on two more runs in the fourth as Emmetsburg would strand a pair of runners in their ar-bat.

The two teams traded outs in the fifth, but in the top of the sixth, Humboldt exploded for seven runs as they batted through the order, using four singles and a pair of doubles to do the damage.

Trailing 14-3, Emmetsburg came up and got a leadoff walk from Mikayla Frerichs that would score off a passed ball, but Raven Brown was stranded when the inning and game ended with the 14-4 tally.

Lindsay Carter took the loss, giving up 14 runs, 10 earned, off 14 hits with three walks and one strikeout.

Emmetsburg got a double from Moly Schany, while Raven Brown and Sarah Simington both had two hits each while Annie Brennan, Emma Anderson and Lindsay Carter all had hits.
