Emmetsburg's Boys of Summer dropped their opening Lakes Conference contest of the season Wednesday night, but split a pair of non-conference games at week's end to move to 2-6 on the young baseball season.

Traveling to LeMars on Wednesday, the E-Hawks would go down early and were never able to recover in an 11-1 loss in a five-inning contest.

LeMars would jump out to an early 5-0 lead after the first inning and then padded three more runs to their total in the second frame. The E-Hawks got on the scoreboard in the top of the fourth when Connor Joyce came home off a sacrifice fly by Hunter McAllister. But, LeMars would answer that run for a 9-1 lead and then plated two more runs in the bottom of the fifth frame to end the contest on the 10-run rule.
