Lady E-Hawks In Fourth Place After Day One Of 2A State Golf Tourney

GRANGER - The Emmetsburg Lady E-Hawk Golf Team found themselves in fourth place after the first day of play at the 2017 Iowa Girls Class 2A State Golf Tournament at Jester Park Golf Course in Granger on Tuesday, May 30. The Lady E-Hawks shot a 375-stroke total to follow Treynor with a 350 and Alta-Aurelia and Sumner-Fredricksburg, who are tied with 372-stroke totals.

Emmetsburg's Allison Freeman, who is also playing in the individual portion of the tournament, is in sixth place after the first 18 holes, shooting an 86.

The Lady E-Hawks got rounds of 43 and 43 from Freeman for her 86 to lead the effort on the first day of the tournament, while fellow senior Sarah Pugh carded rounds of 46 and 43 for an 89-stroke total. Parker Traub carded rounds of 48 and 51 to tally a 99 and Gretchen Hofstad shot a 52 and 49 to tally a 101-stroke score.

Molly McCain would shoot rounds of 52 and 50 for a 102 and Gillian Nolan rounded out the effort with her rounds of 52 and 51 for a 103.

The second day of the tournament concluded Wednesday, May 31.
