Thomas Simington 1965-2017

RUTHVEN -- Funeral service for Thomas L. Simington was held Saturday, May 27, at Zion Lutheran Church in Ruthven. The Rev. Tom Summerfield officiated.

Interment was in Crown Hill Cemetery, Ruthven. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Ruthven was in charge of arrangements.

Thomas Lee Simington, son of Clyde and Ruth (Maaland) Simington, was born Nov. 2, 1965 at the Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg. He received his education in Ruthven, graduating from Ruthven Consolidated High School in 1984.

Tom was employed at I.B.P. in Storm Lake and then Style Craft Furniture in Milford. He later worked at Eaton Corporation and was currently employed at Graham Retread in Spencer.

Tom loved NASCAR and was a devoted fan of the Minnesota Vikings and Iowa State Cyclones. He truly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Tom passed away suddenly on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at his home in Ruthven, at the age of 51. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Ruth Simington; a brother, Todd Simington; a nephew, Johnathan Gustin; and his significant other, Julie Weatherman.

He is survived by his brothers, Steven Simington of LeMars, Jeff (Marci) Simington of Ruthven, Kim "Elmo" (Nichole) Simington of Spencer, and David Simington of San Antonio, TX; his sisters, Tina Gregg of Eastland, TX and Pam (Steve) Gustin of Dickens; nieces and nephews.
