A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary L. Nitchals will be held Thursday, June 1, 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Emmetsburg. The Rev. Clem Currans is the celebrant.

Inurnment is in St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Emmetsburg. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home, Em- metsburg, is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Wednesday, May 31, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg. ?A Parish Vigil Service will be Wednesday at 7:45 p.m.

Mary L. Nitchals, daughter of Leo and Loretta (Higgins) Schany, was born Oct. 21, 1925 on the family farm, near Graettinger. She attended rural schools and graduated from Graettinger High School.

On Oct. 22, 1945, Mary was united in marriage to Maurice A. Nitchals at Assumption Catholic Church in Emmetsburg.

Mary and Maurice moved to Omaha, NE, in 1961. Mary was a devoted member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church.

Mary passed away Saturday, May 27, 2017 in Omaha, NE, at the age of 91. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Maurice on May 13, 1991; two sons, Patrick and Stephen Nitchals; siblings, William, Mickey, Tom, Joan and Alice Schany, Ruth Johnson and an infant brother.

She is survived by her children, Gerald (Linda) Nitchals, Robert (Jane) Nitchals, Janelle (Ty) Buss and Jolene (Glenn) Koch; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; siblings, Bob Schany of Emmetsburg, Richard Schany of Graettinger, Gene (Janice) Schany of Minneapolis, MN, Dan (Eloise) Schany of Houston, TX, Helen Schany of Las Vegas, NV, Pauline Christensen of Omaha, NE and Irene (Bart) Braunger of Omaha, NE; many nieces and nephews; as well as other relatives and friends.
